Making Mistakes

A misty morning, rain fell down. The sea danced to the rhythm of rain. She looked out of a window; it was the perfect weather for a solitary stroll. As she ventured out, crisp spring air embraced her all around. And she embraced it. If only that moment was not fleeting…

“I think you’re trying to tell them the Sage of Untamed Magic showed up at my doorstep today. Uninvited. For Love Day of all things. I mean… What’s the point in throwing confetti in my face? I appreciate the sentiment, but… just… move along, will you? If only I could say this to the Sage’s face without losing credibility as a student…” It’s good you didn’t, Jesse. It’s all good. Moving on.

It’s spring, the season of growth. Even Jesse had to leave her lair to explore the most beautiful Magnolia Blossom Park. She even took a friend with her, another student named Emily. Emily left soon after they had exchanged greetings, though… What a great friend you have there. “Shut up! Let me concentrate!”

Emily showed up later to fish with Jesse. My word, this girl is hardworking. Even on a day off she’s thinking of her studies and future line of work. It’s not all for naught; her teacher, Sage Of Practical Magic, is considering taking her under his wing.

I was surprised when Jesse received an invitation to a party from a spellcaster she barely knows, Emily’s fiancé Darrell. The group gathered at Brindleton’s Salty Paws Saloon. Jesse took an immediate liking to Darrell. A fellow broody, lonesome character! How nice!

“After a few drinks I felt waaaay less tense. Got a nasty headache though, so had to go get some fresh air. Not sure if I called for Darrell or if he just showed up by himself. Anyway. I think it’s nice that we’re friends now. His makeup looks sparkly-sparkly. It’s cute. Can I touch it?”

“Uh, so… It seems you’ve had a couple drinks too much, my friend. Why don’t you go sober up? Before you do something you won’t want to remember.”

“Sorry, Jesse… But I think it’s best I go inside for now. Besides, I don’t think Emily would appreciate a friend of hers trying to make moves on her fiancé…”

“Wait whaaaaat? Make moves? He said moves. Oh wow. That’s kinda cool. But that does mean I can’t touch sparkly-sparkly stuff? Darrell? – You’re saying he left? Booooooring. But man, that sparkle-sparkle was so sparkly!”

I think it’s time for a Jesse to head home. I know socialising is overwhelming for you, but right now you’re losing it. “But I wanna touch sparkly stuff…”

“I did what again?” You tried to flirt with Darrell Charm a couple nights back. He wasn’t quite appreciative of it. “Heard you the first time. But I don’t remember doing such things. You must enjoy torturing people, right? Why else would you be there smirking stupidly at your monitor? Excuse you, but I have work to do. Got no time for this crap.”

I’m sorry, Jesse, but I will always be watching you. We will. It’s not that we want to torture you, dear friend. If only you would understand you are the main character in this magnificent story.

“Say what? I think that was a fly. Gotta come up with a lethal concoction…”

This is all for now. I think I need to go… water my cowplant, if you’ll excuse me.
